I am slowly making my way back into the running game. I took a full week off because of the pain in my foot. I was really concerned and started to think I seriously injured myself! Thankfully by Sunday morning my foot felt 100 percent better.
Of course I had to go for a run to test out the foot. I ran 2.78 miles and felt fantastic. I purposely left the garmin (hence why I ran such a strange distance) at home so I wouldn't worry about pace.. I made it a point to run slow and pay attention to my body. I ended up running a 9:55 average pace.
I ran again on Tuesday. I didn't have time after work so I went to the gym on my lunch break. I did 2.4 miles. My legs and foot felt great. It’s hard to believe I ran 26.2 miles 10 days ago! $
I decided to keep the doctors appointment with the podiatrist. There is obviously something going on with my foot that needs to get figured out. My appt is on 11/22 so I’ll keep you updated.
I entered the lottery for the NYC Marathon. I’ve mentioned before why the NYC marathon holds such a special place in my heart. I wanted it to be my first marathon but I’m glad I ran MCM first. If I don't get into the marathon through the lottery I am going to look into running for a charity or doing the 9 plus 1 program with the NYRRC. I have to run NYC in 2011!

Endurance comes before speed. You'll be amazed how fast you are now in the three months or so after the marathon. Let everything heal up then try a 5k. guaranteed PR. it's incredible.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are keeping the doctor appointment - better safe than sorry!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed you get in the NYC marathon!!
I'm off to a sports doc for my knee this week. I've put it off for months for fear I have to stop running. Good for you for not being a stubborn mule like myself.
