Marathon Training Week #7

Plan called for 12 miles @ 11:30-11:45

Actual Time: 2:16 Pace: 11:20

I realized how awesome a running  partner is. I’ve been spoiled with my running buddy and when I had to do 12 miles on my own this past weekend I was mentally not into it. Not having someone waiting for me caused me to start my run much later then planned. Live & learn.

I started out strong. An hour in I realized that I was feeling dehydrated. I drank 1.5 bottles of gatorade plus a bottle of water but it didn't help too much. By the end my calves were cramping and I felt sick. I’m glad I finished because I thought about calling it quits at mile 5.

This weekend I have a 5k on saturday and 13 miles on sunday!

  1. The heat and humidity makes hydration a challenge. Good job getting the job done!

  2. Ick. Crampy calves. Probably a hydration issue. I'm with you on having a friend for at least part of the run. Makes it so much better!

  5. good job, Amanda, if you ever come up to Boston i'll be your running partner! :-) COngrats on 2 years today! can you imagine if 2 years ago someone told you that you'd be training for a marathon in 2 years? you never would have believed them! you have come so far and are so amazing! congrats!!!!
