In 2 days I will be participating in my first Ragnar Relay! I have so many emotions going through my body – fear, anxiety, excitement etc… Its the unknown that scares me.
Yesterday we found out that Katie had work conflict so I put out an APB on Facebook looking for a replacement runner. The second I hit submit I knew that a specific person was going to ask for more details. I WAS RIGHT!! Suzy & I will be participating in our second relay race! Unfortunately we aren’t in the same van but we will make sure to take pictures at the major exchanges.
I haven't run longer then 4 miles since the MORE 1/2 Marathon on 4/25. I’m hoping the “rest” will be beneficial. Hopefully all the training I’ve been doing will pay off even if I haven't run long distances in 2 weeks.
The race starts in Woodstock, NY and ends in Dobbs Ferry, NY. We will be running along the hudson river and through towns I’ve never even heard of. The course is difficult and the hills are going to be killer! Each runner has 3 legs of the race. I am runner #10 and my legs are: 6.2 miles, 3.2 miles and 4.5 miles.
Any suggestions on what to pack? Words of wisdom?

Good Luck!!!

You are going to be great! I think that the resting of your legs will be very beneficial for the race. You know you can definitely do the distance :) Good luck girl I'll be thinking about you guys!
ReplyDeleteGood Luck Amanda!!
ReplyDeleteTake it easy on your first leg, run the second leg, and then be ready to really suffer the last leg. If you push it too hard on the first leg, you will really hurt for the last two.
ReplyDeleteI pack two bags -- one big one with all of my sleeping stuff, a change of clothes and shoes, and my food items and one small one to take with me up front in the van.
Good luck and have a great time! Jump out of the van every time it stops to support your teammates. Be at the hand off spots for the people in your van! The camaraderie is what sets this race apart.
It's Exciting!! I'm trying to figure out what to pack as well. Gah. See you Friday.
ReplyDeleteNo advice .. but have a blast!
