Friday was race #2 of the winter series put on by my road runners club. There were 2 options – 3.5 miles or a Hangover Half marathon. I would love to say that I did the half but then I would be lying to you.
I was running late so I only had a few minutes to get signed in, sign my daughter in and make my way to the start line. I was lucky enough to spot Suzy right away. She ran the half and PR’d in pretty crappy conditions! If you remember Suzy and I ran the first race of the series together. She really pushes me to go faster and having someone else there makes the race go by so much quicker.
There were a ton of runners out there. I was proud to be amongst all of the “hard core” runners. I felt awesome starting off the new year with a race! Definitely a new tradition! Unfortunately, my garmin didn't connect to a satellite until almost a mile into the race! The splits below are from Suzy. I continued on to run half a mile more. These races are free so at the finish line there was a guy holding a watch shouting out your finish time LOL. I stupidly wrote down the wrong time on the card you hand in but I was able to get that changed.
- Mile 1: 10:06
- Mile 2: 9:19
- Mile 3: 9:31
- Half Mile: ?? (my brain isn't functioning and I cant figure this out)
- Total time: 33:50 Average Pace: 9:40 Total Distance: 3.5 mi
I had 7 miles on schedule for Saturday. I didn't realize that I had a ton of errands to do in the morning which meant I had to complete the run at the gym. Usually the TVs in the gym are turned to crappy stations so I was pleasantly surprised to see that Grey’s Anatomy was on! And it was an episode with Denny (!!!) so I watched that for the first hour which helped the time go by quickly. I completed 7 miles in 1:18 which is an average pace of 11:08.
Today has been one of those stay in your pajamas all day and dont brush your hair kinda days. All that I accomplished was putting away the christmas decorations.
1010 MILES IN 2010
