Spontaneous 5K

My 10 mile run turned out to be great saturday morning! Want to know how to run 10 miles faster then you have ever ran before? Go to a park where every local college cross country team is at preparing for a race. They were EVERYWHERE! I found myself speeding up whenever I passed a large group of college kids. I completed 10 miles in 1:50! Again, I am not 100% sure 10 miles is accurate - the loop I run is either 2.3 or 2.5 miles. Either way the run was awesome! I definitely need a new pair of sneakers and I need to get them ASAP!

Today I decided to run the SEFCU 5k. I didn't pre-register which meant no tshirt (booooo!). The weather was perfect - 60s and cloudy. Mile 1 was a bit of an incline - according to my watch I finished the 1st mile in 10:20. 2nd mile was downhill which is always good. After we passed the mile 2 marker it was pretty much all uphill!!! It was a long gradual incline. It sucked but I ran the entire time and I was passing people! Once I saw the finish line I started sprinting. According to my watch I finished in 31:39 - can we say PR!!?? Unfortunately the race was not chip timed and web is showing my time as 31:56 - grrrrr those 20 seconds mean a lot to me LOL. I am going by my watch - I know I started it the second I passed the start and stopped it the second I crossed the finish line. I planned on taking this race easy - HA!

I wanted to thank everyone for their support on my training plan. I think I am going to run 13 miles next weekend and then drop it down after that.

  2. Argh, that's annoying when your time doesn't match the "official" time. I say you know what your time was though, so count it as your PR!

  3. the "official" time must have been a gun start time or something, not when you crossed start. hate it when that happens.

still, great race! and good time on the 10 miler! way to go amanda!
